Brief Chapter Meeting , Book Harvest Program, and Annual Holiday Brunch Saturday, December 6, 2014 9:15 – 11:00 AM Location to be announced.
Our guest speaker, Ginger Young, is founder of Book Harvest, a non-profit organization with the goal of putting books in the hands of children who need them the most. Ms. Young considers herself one of the “lucky ones” growing up because she had books of her own; she was a regular at the library; she loved to read ~ and still does. Yet it worries her that “more than half of America's low-income kids own not a single book.” She continues, “I cannot imagine being a child without books to call her very own. I founded Book Harvest because I believe we can change the bookless reality that so many of our kids face.” For additional information and inspiration, check out the website http://www.bookharvestnc.org
Note: Bring a friend or come alone as we spend time together. Bring gently used children’s books to be given to children served by Book Harvest. RSVP to Sandy Poston by November 25th.
